So there’s this amazing little store called The Mountaineer in a beautiful little town called Keene Valley on the way up to Camp. When I visited Rice University (one of my other choices, and a lovely school) this spring, a grad student there had a slackline set up and agreed to show me the ropes (webbing?). I loved it so much, I strode into The Mountaineer last week and purchased 60′ of strong webbing and a handful of carabiners to make my own.

You know what’s *awesome* about this thing? Sure, it’s fun to walk on. But get this: when you pluck it, you can *feel* the harmonics. It oscillates at around 3.5 hertz, but you can easily detect at least the first and second harmonics. Freaking cool.
