Adirondack Adventures, Vol. 9: Journey to the Hellish Waters of the Boathouse

The sun shone brightly as Wyatt pulled on his fire boots and rose to his feet. “This magic rubber will shield me from the horrible creatures of the Boathouse’s murky waters,” he remarked aloud, for some reason. The boots clunked awkwardly as he made is way to the screen door. After a long and gallant struggle, he freed the door and burst through. He lunged forward as he reached the bottom of the treacherous porch steps, steadying himself against the wrinkled bark of an old pine that lay before him. Straightening his cloak, he set out to continue his heroic quest. The heavy boots made a resounding “thunk” each time he ventured a step on the deadly Stairs to the Dock. His head slowly disappeared as he descended the steps, approaching what fate lay in store for him down below, but the powerful sound of his footfall echoed throughout the forest long after he left sight. God bless that brave young soldier, and God bless his magic boots.
